Drop-in Center

Our Drop-in Program provides a safe and supportive space for individuals who face mental health challenges.

We foster an atmosphere of acceptance where individuals feel valued and can grow in self-worth, dignity and self-respect. The drop-in program increases knowledge of community resources, allows individuals to learn from one another and provides a safe space where social and recreational activities can be experienced and enjoyed. Our program combats depression, isolation and loneliness while building self-esteem so participants can work towards wellness and recovery. This program is a “peer-support” program, staffed by individuals with their own lived mental health experiences.

Some of our activities include crafts, making holiday ornaments, making cards for family and paint nights. One of our most popular activities has been karaoke. In the summer months, we typically try to meet at a local park and enjoy a BBQ.  We also have a meal program that has met in person, and currently as a “drive-by” to promote safety and wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MAY DRIVE-BY DINNER PROGRAM

COVID UPDATE– Currently, The MHA Drop-in dinner program has been adjusted to a “Drive by” dinner program.  MHA is working with a local caterer to provide hot meals once a week. Participants that sign up are free to drive by and pick up a hot meal to go.  MHA is also currently offering comfort kits to participants. This kit included an adult coloring book, colored pencils, paints and canvases, as well as blank cards to write to a family or friend.

If I wasn’t at Drop-in I would probably be hiding out in my apartment honestly. I always enjoy the dinners and the people I get to share it with! I also like how people welcome me when I come here, I always feels comfortable!”

Drop in Helps me socialize. I really enjoy the activities and especially the art and projects. I get to see people I wouldn’t see otherwise, I look forward to it. I would be at home with my cats or reading the paper bored. It keeps me out of the house and socializing with friends. ”

If I wasn’t in Drop in- I would be home watching TV. The food is great and homemade! This is a coping mechanism for me. I get to socialize more personally with my peers and if I didn’t have this I would be feeling depressed. It keeps me going and gives me something to look forward to!”
